I played a key role in the year-long development of the UNSW Newsroom webpage, collaborating with multiple UNSW teams and external agencies to create a dynamic and user-friendly platform. The UNSW Newsroom, managed by the News & Content team, serves as the University’s primary hub for sharing newsworthy research and achievements through external media, corporate publications, and social channels. My contributions spanned user research, feedback meetings, and client discussions, ensuring the design aligned with the needs of journalists, academics, and the broader university community.

From early conceptualization to final execution, I helped shape the design direction by developing prototypes in Sketch and Figma. I participated in user interviews and stakeholder meetings, gathering insights to refine the user experience and functionality of the site. This collaborative process resulted in an engaging and accessible newsroom that effectively showcases UNSW’s research impact while maintaining a seamless user journey.

Newsroom home page

The UNSW Newsroom homepage is designed to highlight the biggest story of the moment, ensuring key research and achievements take center stage. With a strong focus on ease of navigation, imagery, and media elements, the layout enhances storytelling by complementing written content with engaging visuals and multimedia.

Newsroom Article Page

The UNSW Newsroom article page strikes a balance between impactful visuals and a clean, readable layout. Large images and multimedia elements enhance storytelling, while unique quote highlights draw attention to key insights. Thoughtfully placed related articles guide users to more content without disrupting the reading experience, ensuring seamless engagement.

Concept exploration

One concept explored a different approach to showcasing content but was ultimately not chosen in favor of a more streamlined solution. While it offered a unique way to engage users, the final design better aligned with the project’s goals and user needs.
